REALISM STUDIES

My own wildlife photographs inspired the portrait studies of Canadian wildlife I have created. However, few of my compositions were constructed purely from a single photograph. Most of my references photos for my paintings benefited from Photoshop (layering and or adding multiple photographs together to create one singular scene). The greatest joy I have earned from reproducing realistic nature scenes was the years of practice colour mixing, recreating textures and sketching out a variety of forms. The hard work that went into each idealized environment was substantial and with imperfection. Overall, this painting style has propelled my painting abilities forward. Now in my latest painting series called "Wilder", viewers can witness my continued growth.
